How Long is Cosmetology School in Ohio?

The length of a cosmetology program varies by state and by school. In Ohio, 1,500 hours of training are required to be completed in a board-approved cosmetology school, according to the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board. Here’s how long you can expect to be in school if you enroll in the cosmetology program at Moler Beauty Academy.

Our cosmetology program can be completed in as little as 40 weeks. That’s approximately nine months of training and education. That means that you could be on your way to practicing cosmetology professionally in under a year! Of course, attendance will be a major player in getting your program completed on time. Being on-time and engaged for each class will set you up for success!

Advance Cosmetology at Moler Beauty Academy

If you want to further your cosmetology education and are looking to expand your knowledge, adding advance cosmetology to your schedule might be the right move. In Moler’s advance cosmetology program, you can take an additional 300 clock hour course to learn salon and business management. This program is for those who have already completed a cosmetology course, and it does require additional examination.

1. Get Enrolled

As you can see, your education is the first and probably most important step in getting your cosmetology license. You’ll need to choose a school that offers the type of training you’re looking for in an environment that allows you to thrive.

2. Work Hard

3. Pass the State Exam

You will take two tests as a part of the state exam. One is theory, which is a written test. The second is practical. The practical test requires that you physically demonstrate skills you’ve learned in school. At Moler Beauty Academy, we strive to help our students prepare to sit for the state board exam. We offer instruction and practice on several parts of the theoretical and practical sections.
