New Hair, Who Dis? 5 Hair Trends for 2019

As 2018 draws to a close it’s time for you to start thinking ahead to the new year! ‘Tis the season for progression of your beauty career, and what better way to get a jump-start than to research on upcoming hair trends? Learning these, and figuring out how to create them, can wow your instructors, clients, or even yourself! So whether you’re an upcoming cosmetology student, a cosmetology school graduate, or just a lover of all things beauty, here’s our predictions for 2019’s hairstyle trends!

Get Started on 2019 With These Hairstyles

Even if you’re not a student of cosmetology and hair design it’s still helpful to know what’s going to be popular in 2019! We did a little digging and these are hair cuts and styles that are either currently popular or we think are going to be very popular in 2019! You can either try them out on yourself, or ask your instructors if they could include these in your assignments!

We pulled these ideas from places like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and beauty icons like Rihanna, so you know they’re on trend! Guido Palau, one of British Vogue’s contributing editors, had this to say about upcoming hairstyle trends:

“For a few years now, it’s been about embracing individuality and naturalness: the idea of really presenting everybody as the best version of themselves…now I think we’re seeing a resurgence of the fantasy of beauty as well.”

So dive into these creative and beautiful hairstyles, and maybe give one or two a try yourself!

Intentionally Messy Ballerina Buns

Messy buns are not a new concept, but there’s a very specific way to do them that isn’t too messy, but rather just messy enough, that makes them a 2019 knockout! As seen on fashion runways across the world, check out these beautiful buns and make sure you give them a try in 2019!

Short and Bright

You’ve seen short hair, but we’re talking really short hair. Women and men around the world are shaving their heads very close to their skulls, and dyeing what’s left bright colors! Seems simple enough, but make sure you choose the right color for your skin tone!

The Slicked Back Top Bun

As we mentioned, buns have always been in style. They’re easy, pretty, and timeless, right? Well they’re about to become a whole lot more high-fashion and consequently a whole lot more difficult to master. Check out these slicked back buns and don’t forget to use hairspray and a spoolie to style your baby hairs!

Loooong & Sleek

Take a page out of girl Duckie’s book on hair. Her signature sleek mane is easy to accomplish and looks great with any style you’ve personally crafted! Whether you’re rocking a wig or are au-naturale we think this 2019 hairstyle will really wow your friends and family!

Single Warrior Braid

With all of the intense and intricate braiding going on in 2018, you might be surprised to see that we’re toning it down in favor of a more simplified single braid. There are a variety of ways to do this braid, whether it be a faux-hawk or a soft, feathery braid, give them all a try this upcoming year!

Each of these styles are sure to set you apart in 2019! Not only are they fun to learn but they’re stylish and easy to wear. If you are currently studying cosmetology don’t hesitate to ask that these styles be incorporated into your lessons!

Interested in learning how to create these styles yourself, but aren’t sure where to start? We can help!
