Cosmetology School Graduates

Get The Most Out Of Cosmetology School

Before your graduation day, it’s important to make the most out of your educational experience now, so that your time at cosmetology school is well spent. Here are some tips on how to better prepare for your big day:

Develop Strong Organizational Skills

From being to classes on time, staying organized in your life and schooling, to staying on top of your coursework, organizational skills can make a huge difference during your time at cosmetology school. Managing your time, school notes, and keeping yourself organized can lead you towards success. When you are on time to class, this leaves a positive impression on your instructors and future employers. How you manage your time at cosmetology school, can determine your success as a licensed cosmetologist.

Practice Makes Perfect

The more you practice at your cosmetology school’s salon, the more confident you can become in your skills and knowledge. You can feel more comfortable taking on new clients and exploring different styles or trends in the beauty industry. Taking advantage of as many learning opportunities as possible can help you feel more ready for your graduation! Do all you can now to learn different skills in coloring, hair cutting, waxing, facials, and other important techniques a future cosmetologist should know.

Participate In Class

Your instructors are there to help you grow and improve during your cosmetology journey. The coursework can be challenging, but by paying attention in class, asking questions, and getting involved, you are more likely able to get ahead in your classes and closer to your graduation. Your instructors are experts in cosmetology and can better assist you when you are open to what they have to say.

Learn From Your Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes and that’s okay! Mistakes are the best way to learn and develop problem-solving skills. Through mistakes are you able to grow and not be afraid to take risks or try new things. Don’t be afraid to take advice and learn from your instructors or fellow classmates. You can learn a lot when you are open to improvement and feedback.

Ask Other Students For Advice

You can learn a lot from students who have been in a cosmetology program longer and are closer to their graduation or have already graduated. By asking for advice and being open to what your classmates have to say, your creativity and skills can improve.

Learn As Much As You Can

Don’t limit yourself to what your education has to offer. There are so many learning opportunities! Gain as much experience as you can during your time at cosmetology school. Get out of your comfort zone and explore new ideas and ways of practicing different techniques. Ask your instructors lots of questions and don’t be afraid to try new things!

Have Fun!

Cosmetology school is a lot of hard work, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun! It’s important to enjoy your time and make as many memories as you can. Get excited about your future and what you can learn to improve your skills.

A Few Things You Should Know Before Attending Cosmetology School

There is so much advice out there from former beauty school graduates that you may want to know sooner than later. That way, you know what to expect and how to best prepare for a cosmetology program. There is a lot more you should know about cosmetology school than just cutting hair. The more you know now, the more confident you can feel towards graduation day. A few things to keep in mind are:

It Takes A Whole Lot Of Commitment

Cosmetology school isn’t easy and it requires dedication. With any skill set, you have to invest a lot of time to become a stronger asset in your future career. Working hard now can get you in the habit of developing stronger skills when managing your own business or clientele.

Develop A Relationship With Your Instructors

Your instructors can be your greatest resource and guide during your cosmetology journey. They all know what cosmetology school was like and how demanding it can be. Through their own experience, are they able to share advice as you approach graduation. A relationship with a cosmetology instructor can last a lifetime and help you even after graduation!

How to Pay for Beauty School

Contact your school’s admissions team to answer any questions you may have.

Graduation Is Just Around The Corner!

As you approach your graduation, there are a few things you are going to want to know, so you can get a head start in your cosmetology journey. We have a few helpful suggestions on what you can expect post-graduation

Cosmetology State Exam

After completing your cosmetology program, you are going to want to sit for your cosmetology exam. The exam offers tests on written and technical skills. You may want to look into the licensure requirements of your state. At Moler Beauty Academy, we offer a 1500-hour cosmetology program. If you are living in Ohio, contact our Cincinnati or Fairfield schools for additional information.

Additional Training

Get involved in the beauty industry as soon as you can after graduation! That way you can get the training and experience needed to create a solid resume. While waiting to apply at a salon or spa, you can offer to cut your friend’s hair as a way to build your portfolio.

Research & Visit Different Salons

The more research you do during your career search, the more likely you are able to find the right salon for you when beginning your cosmetology journey. Visiting local salons where you can potentially receive additional training and experience can give you a solid idea on what you want to do as a licensed cosmetologist.

Build Your Resume & Portfolio

Gaining experience opens more doors for you and shows potential employers that you are talented and serious about cosmetology. During your education, document your work, take lots of photos and create a portfolio on social media to showcase your work. If possible, while attending cosmetology school, work for salons as office assistants or any other job that might look impressive on a cosmetologists resume.
